I mention this because it illustrates that candidates can be disqualified at the state level. The US Congress had no involvement in their disqualification from seeking public office. Nor were any of these Republicans found guilty by a court of unexcused absences from the Oregon Senate.

Republican senators who participated in the longest walkout in state history cannot seek reelection in 2024 or 2026, the Oregon Supreme Court ruled Thursday.

In a unanimous decision, the court rejected arguments from five Republican senators that Measure 113, a voter-approved 2022 law meant to dissuade lawmakers from walking out and shutting down the legislative process, was poorly worded and would give them another term in office. Instead, the court agreed with state attorneys, who urged justices to consider voters’ intent with the 2022 law, which bars any lawmaker with 10 or more unexcused absences from serving another term.

“Because the text is capable of supporting the secretary’s interpretation, and considering the clear import of the ballot title and explanatory statement in this case, we agree with the secretary that voters would have understood the amendment to mean that a legislator with 10 or more unexcused absences during a legislative session would be disqualified from holding legislative office during the immediate next term, rather than the term after that,” the ruling said.

And yet, you've completely missed the difference between federal government and state government. This thing called f.e.d.e.r.a.l.i.s.m. (did I spell it slow enough for you? What these little pussies did was "disqualify" OREGON GOP senators (meaning. please read it slow again so you can understand, and please ask if you have questions), that are not elected by any other state. They are elected in OREGON ONLY. As I've explained too many times to count (and really getting fucking tired of it) is one of the BASICS you should have learned in sixth (that's grade 6 that apparently you had to take over and over and over and over) is that most of it power was given to the states by our founders (men that are dead now) wrote a great document. you ought to read it sometime, it's called the Constitution.

So it has exactly ZERO bearing on trumpster. punto.

    OD,
The presidential election is held and run at a S T A T E level. 50 different state elections plus DC. You may have heard of the electoral college. That’s why some states have vote-by-mail and some don’t. It’s also why the Green and Libertarian parties are not on all states’ ballots. In other words, not all presidential candidates qualify to be on the ballot of every state.

The Supremes could very well decide that it is up to the states whether to include Trump on their ballots or not.

I like that law very much. Let's do something like that on the national level... perhaps require all members of Congress to put in 40 hours a week and taking no more than 4 week off in any calendar year. That's one way to install term limits.
